Description
The PetSafe SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door Large is a smart dog door with an electronic key, allowing pets to enter and exit the house freely without owner intervention.
The PetSafe SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door Large is a smart dog door with an electronic key that allows your pet to enter and exit the house at any time. You don't have to interrupt your activities to let your pet out, and then watch them return to let them in again. Furthermore, this doorway model features a programmable access mode for selected pets.
The SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door is equipped with a remote control system (automatic mode) that connects via radio waves to the "SmartKey" electronic key. This key is a small device designed to hang on your dog's collar. When your pet approaches the door, the SmartKey sends a unique signal to the antenna inside the door, unlocking the flap and allowing your dog to enter or exit the house. When your pet leaves, the flap locks again. This means only your pet can use the doorway. The door comes with one SmartKey, but additional keys are available for purchase for owners of multiple pets. You can grant access to up to 5 pets simultaneously. The maximum radio signal range is 91cm, but you can reduce this distance using the knob on the control panel.
The automatic dog door from PetSafe has 3 operating modes. In addition to automatic mode, in which the flap responds to a key signal, you can choose a program that keeps the door permanently open (allowing access to pets without a key) or permanently closed (does not respond to the key signal). The system works even in frost and heat (-20.5°C to 82°C). SmartKey is waterproof. Installation is simple, and a special cutting tool and mounting kit are included. Both the frame and flap are made of durable plastic, making the product long-lasting and weather-resistant. Designed for installation in wooden, metal, PVC, and UPVC doors with a maximum thickness of 51mm. Battery powered.

Tip: The SmartKey included in the set is already assigned to the door - no programming required. If you want to add additional pets to the database, program the SmartKey before installing the pet door to avoid having to hold your pet in the flap. To make it easier for your pet to get through the door, install it so your pet doesn't have to climb over it.
Note: Some household devices can partially interfere with the reception of the key signal (e.g., smartphones, TVs, TV remote controls, microwaves, game consoles), so it's recommended to keep electronic devices at least 60cm away from the door. The SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door Large model is not suitable for wall mounting.
How do you teach your pet to use the pet door?
After installing the door, leave the flap open for a while (you can secure it to the surface above with a piece of string and tape. Make sure the flap doesn't accidentally fall, as this could scare your pet). Encourage your pet to go through the opening using its favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet at the inside door, then at the outside door. Practice until your pet walks through the door without hesitation. Then repeat the training with the flap down until your pet masters the maneuver of pushing the door open. Pet and reward your pet every time it goes through the door. You can also incorporate a playful element into the training, for example, by throwing a ball through the door for the dog or passing a cat fishing rod through it.
