The PetSafe Microchip Cat Flap provides freedom and independence for your pet by allowing them to enter and exit the house at any time.
Product Description
The PetSafe Microchip Cat Flap is a chip-based cat flap that will give your pet freedom and independence. This cat flap, which can be mounted on a door, wall, or window, allows your pet to enter and exit the house at any time. You don't have to interrupt your activities to let your pet out, and then watch them return to let them in again. Furthermore, this entryway model features an access lock for unauthorized pets.
The flap can operate in automatic or manual mode. In automatic mode, it allows entry only to cats with a microchip embedded in the flap's memory. When a cat approaches the entrance, the built-in microchip reader scans the number on the microchip, which is located in the cat's body or around its neck, in the form of a collar tag (available separately). If it successfully identifies the number, it releases the access lock. Other cats outside the house cannot move the flap and pass through the opening. You can assign up to 40 cats to the database. The door is compatible with the most common type of chip implanted by veterinarians, the 15-digit FDX-B microchip.
The manual program has four opening/closing options, which you can easily change using the knob: the door is completely closed (a padlock symbol on the knob); the cat can enter the house but cannot exit (an inward-pointing arrow symbol); the cat can exit the house but cannot enter the house (an outward-pointing arrow symbol); the flap opens in both directions (a bidirectional arrow symbol).
Magnets are located at the bottom of the flap and in the opening in the frame to hold the flap in place, preventing excess outside air from entering the house and accidental opening, for example, during strong winds. Additionally, the edges of the flap are surrounded by a soft strip that increases protection against drafts and reduces the flap's noise. The transparent material evokes the image of a window and makes it easier for your pet to push the flap into place.
The Microchip Cat Flap is powered by AA batteries. It can be installed in brick walls, wooden, metal, PVC, and UPVC doors, as well as glass doors and windows. Installation is straightforward, and a special cutting tool and screws are included. If you're planning to mount the flap on a thicker wall or door, this model is perfect, as it has a built-in 7cm tunnel. Both the frame and flap are made of durable plastic, making the product long-lasting and weather-resistant. The flap is available in versatile colors – white and brown – to complement many interiors.

Tip: Program the microchip. Before installing the cat door, make sure the reader detects the chip and to avoid having to hold the cat in the flap. Once the cat's ID is correctly read, you should hear the flap unlock. To make it easier for your pet to get through the door, install it so your pet doesn't have to climb through.
Training Your Pet
How can you train your pet to use the door? After installing the door, leave the flap open for a while (you can attach it to the surface above with a piece of string and tape. Make sure the flap doesn't accidentally fall, as this could scare your pet). Encourage your pet to go through the opening using its favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet at the inside door, then at the outside door. Practice until your pet starts walking through without thinking. Then repeat the training with the flap down until your pet masters the maneuver of pushing the door open to exit. Pet and reward your pet every time it goes through the door. You can also introduce a fun element into training, for example by moving the cat's fishing rod.
