This 3-brush PetSafe dog and cat fountain cleaning kit is perfect for cleaning both the housing and the pump. The large sponge-top brush is ideal for cleaning the sides of the fountain and the bowl. The small flexible brush easily removes debris and buildup from the pump. The medium-bristle brush helps clean every other part of the fountain.
How to Clean PetSafe Drinkwell Cat and Dog Fountains:
- Unplug the fountain, drain the water, and disassemble the fountain.
- The fountain is dishwasher safe (except for the motor and cord). These parts can be washed in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand.
- If the dishwasher water is too hot, we recommend washing by hand.
- When washing by hand, use the included fountain cleaning brushes and dish soap.
- Note: If you have an Avalon or Pagoda fountain, the filter housing is hand-wash only. It is not dishwasher safe.
- Remove the motor from the fountain. Lift the impeller (it looks like a small white propeller) off the motor. There may be a faceplate cover above the impeller that can be lifted with a coin or fingernail.
- Wash the impeller in soapy water, removing any hair or other debris that has collected around it.
- Pour soapy water into the motor cavity and clean it with a small round brush. A cotton swab or small toothbrush will also work.
- Rinse all parts well before putting them back into the fountain.
- Reassemble the fountain, replacing the filters as necessary.
- Fill the water fountain with water. Reconnect the fountain.
