Directions for Use:
Read the instruction manual before use. The FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool is not the same as combing or brushing – it removes dead, loose hair without cutting or damaging the topcoat.
-
Step 1: DeShedding can be performed on a completely dry animal; for best results, we recommend combing immediately after bathing and drying.
-
Step 2: Before beginning, perform a thorough checkup of your pet, looking for cuts, bruises, or any skin issues that may be hidden under the coat. If any of these occur, consult your veterinarian before brushing. Remove any tangles or mats with the deShedding Tool.
-
Step 3: Use the tool similar to brushing, gently moving it through your pet's coat in the direction of hair growth, aligning the stainless steel teeth toward the fur. Start at the animal's head and repeat, taking particular care around the belly, legs, genitals, and anus. Avoid excessively pulling the fur in one spot. Use long, gentle strokes, moving the tool away from your pet's skin. Avoid pressing too hard. If you notice any redness or irritation, stop combing.
-
Step 4: The deShedding tool collects the undercoat hairs; excess hair can be removed from the teeth of the tool by pressing the FURejector® button.
The wide range of FURminator® grooming products are designed to support healthy skin and coat, and significantly reduce shedding with regular use.
